Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has said that the focus for the weekend is to climb into fifth place, reports the official website.

Sheffield Wednesday host fifth placed Reading at Hillsborough on Friday night knowing that a win would take them above their opponents in the race for a play-off spot.

The Owls were reliant on an injury time Blackburn Rovers equaliser to maintain their place in the top six; Fulham dropped two points and remain in seventh – one point behind Wednesday.

But rather than look over their shoulder at the chasing pack, Carvalhal is keen to look ahead and climb the table on Friday night.

A victory would see them finish the weekend in fifth place.

Carvalhal said:

“For us, it is all about moving higher up the table.

“On Friday we know we can do this with victory.

“We can move to fifth position and this is where we are aiming.

“But this will be a tough game, for Reading and us.”
