The impact Steve Bruce and his staff have had at Sheffield Wednesday has been quite remarkable with the Owls now in the hunt for a spot in the play-offs.

They are unbeaten in their last seven league matches, winning four and drawing three, keeping a clean sheet in five of them and conceding just three times.

For a team who were conceding three times a game fairly regularly under Jos Luhukay it is quite an achievement and with the club now sat just six points outside the play-offs, it has the potential to get better.

A win on Monday against arch-rivals Sheffield United would be a monumental boost but they will have to play it without one of their key strikers.

Lucas Joao has impressed on occasion this season but has been ruled out of the Steel City clash with an injury.

Having scored nine times already this season, the 25-year-old is definitely somebody that Bruce would much rather have in his team than not.

But how will the striker himself be feeling?

He will surely be gutted, and rightly so. He has not been outstanding this season but Joao has provided a steady flow of goals through some tricky spells.

Scoring the winner in a fierce derby can propel a striker into legendary status and to miss out on the chance to do will no doubt hurt.
