It appears that Steve Bruce will have the services of Sheffield Wednesday striker Sam Winnall available to him for the remainder of the current season.

The 28-year-old made the decision to stay with the club past the January transfer window, rejecting an offer to go out on loan, report the Sheffield Star.

He had been missing for nearly ten months with an injury, only making his first appearance of the season for the Owls from the bench at the end of December in a 1-1 draw with West Brom

Since then he has made two more cameo appearances but is yet to be entrusted with a starting place as his manager monitors his fitness.

But what will the former Barnsley forward be thinking ahead of the closing months?

This decision to stay and fight for his place at Hillsborough says a lot about what will be going on inside his head.

He will have the bit between his teeth now throughout the rest of the campaign and will be absolutely determined to get himself back to his best and back into the Wednesday starting line-up as soon as possible.

When he has played consistently in the Championship he has proven to be a top second-tier striker and will be a real weapon for Bruce in the closing months of the season.

They will need to ensure he does not push himself too hard that he picks up another knock, however.
