Sheffield Wednesday's Liam Palmer says he is looking forward to working with the club's new manager, Tony Pulis, at Hillsborough.

Pulis was appointed as the Owls' new boss last week, following the departure of Garry Monk from the club.

The 62-year-old takes over with Wednesday 23rd in the Championship table, and with just six points to their name thanks to a six-point deduction earlier in the campaign.

Despite that, it seems there is some optimism about what Pulis will bring to his new club, judging by Palmer's latest comments.

Giving his reaction to the news of Pulis' appointment while on international duty with Scotland, Palmer was quoted by the Sheffield Star as saying: “I’ve not spoken to him yet. I’m looking forward to working under him."

Recounting his previous impressions of Pulis from coming up against sides managed by him, Palmer went on to add: “He’s vastly experienced and whenever I’ve come up against his teams before you always know you’re in for a tough game."

Following the November international break, Pulis' first game in charge of Wednesday is set to come on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Deepdale to take on Preston North End.

The Verdict
In fairness to Palmer, there isn't really much he is going to be able to say here, since he is not going to want to start on the wrong foot with Pulis before he has even met him.
Even so, it is certainly going to be interesting to see exactly how things play out for Wednesday while under the guidance of Pulis.
While his style of play means his appointment was never going to be the most exciting, he is certainly a manager who knows how to grind out results, which could be just what Wednesday need to ensure they avoid the drop into League One this season.
