Sheffield Wednesday full-back Liam Palmer has stated that the emphatic 4-1 win at Middlesbrough earlier in the season was his favourite game in the current campaign.

The Owls have endured a disappointing season on the whole, with Garry Monk's men languishing in the bottom half of the Championship and they're realistically out of the running to finish in the play-off places.

Despite that, the Yorkshire side have had some memorable moments in the past eight months and a fan asked Palmer on Instagram for his favourite game this season.

And, the 28-year-old responded with the win on Teesside. Wednesday ran riot in the first-half at the Riverside, with an Adam Clayton own goal and a Dominic Iorfa effort putting the side two up inside six minutes.

Paddy McNair pulled one back for the hosts but Adam Reach and Steven Fletcher gave Monk's side a three-goal lead at the break - something they would hold on to with ease.

Incredibly, the Owls scored four first-half goals a few months later at Nottingham Forest but Palmer went with the win against Boro as his favourite.

The verdict

There's no doubt about it that the win against Boro was fantastic and it would have been sweet for Monk coming up against his former club.

From Palmer's perspective, he played the full 90 minutes and impressed, so you can understand why he chose it.

The success at Forest must have run it close in Palmer's thinking and he missed the win at Leeds which is another highlight of what has been a disappointing season on the whole for Wednesday.
