Sheffield Wednesday left-back Achraf Lazaar has given an update on his injury situation after limping out of the action against Brentford last night.

The Newcastle United loanee was making just his second appearance for the Owls but it was cut short after just half-an-hour as he limped off with what looked like a hamstring injury.

But he took to Instagram the morning after to give fans an update, posting a photo on his story of him relaxing with some heavy strapping around his left thigh along with the caption: 'Back soon'.

Lazaar's injury aside it was another great night for Steve Bruce and his side who recorded yet another win since he took over as manager.

Steven Fletcher did the damage, first firing past Dan Bentley just before half-time after a fine pass from Barry Bannan before making it 2-0 just after the break, heading home from an Adam Reach cross.

And that is the way it stayed to take Bruce above his former side Aston Villa and into 12th place, just six points outside the play-offs.

The verdict

This is a blow for Wednesday without a doubt as it sounded like Lazaar had been impressing.

But the way they bounced back from the injury will be of huge encouragement and something they probably would not have done a few months ago under Luhukay.

People laughed when they talked about Bruce taking them into the play-offs, but it looks all the more realistic now.
