Sheffield Wednesday full-back Jack Hunt has admitted that the team have suffered without several injured players, but he said those returning will provide a 'big boost' to the squad.

Darren Moore's men are currently 9th in the table, just three points away from the play-off places, however fans are concerned after a run of just two wins in ten League One games.

The Owls haven't been helped by the likes of Sam Hutchinson, George Byers, Massimo Luongo and Josh Windass, among others, missing at least a few games in that period.

But, the quartet are all closing in on returns to the team and Hunt told Yorkshire Live that having them back in the fold will help Wednesday as they look to go on a consistent run moving forward.

"They are fantastic footballers and we would love to have them available every game. They have definitely been a big miss for us. It will give the manager a nice headache when they come back. It will be fantastic for the group.

"Everyone's aim is to get promoted or to finish as high up as we can do in the league to gain promotion. With that group of players coming back, it will definitely give us a boost."

The verdict

There won't be much sympathy for Wednesday considering the depth and quality that Moore has at his disposal, but there's no denying that these injuries haven't helped.

So, as Hunt says, it will be very welcome for the boss when they return and you would expect positive results to follow.

Either way though, injuries happen and the teams that Moore has been picking should've been picking up better results than they have done in the past month or two.
