Scotland head into their crunch clash against Kazakhstan in the best way possible, as they saw off Cyprus in their penultimate Euro 2020 qualifying match.

Goals from Ryan Christie and John McGinn proved to be enough for Steve Clarke's side, as they now have their qualification chances in their own hands.

Scotland sit third in Group I, and will know that a win over Kazakhstan will guarantee them a spot in the play-offs, as they look to qualify for next year's tournament.

One player that has impressed during their qualifying campaign is Sheffield Wednesday defender Liam Palmer, who played the full 90 minutes against Cyprus.

Palmer took to Instagram following the win, and was evidently pleased to pick up a crucial three points to aid their qualification chances.

The full-back has been a key member of the Sheffield Wednesday squad as well, with the 28-year-old making 14 appearances in total for the Owls.

Garry Monk's side are currently sat eighth in the Championship table, and will be keen to break out of a slight slump in form before the international break.

Palmer will be fully-focused on the task at hand for Scotland now though, as they take on Kazakhstan on Tuesday evening, in a game which will make or break their qualification chances.

Sheffield Wednesday are next in action when they take on league leaders West Brom, in what is likely to be one of their toughest tests of the season to date at The Hawthorns.

The Verdict:

He'll be delighted to come away from the game with a win.

Scotland haven't been at their best during this year's qualifying campaign, but this will be a morale-boosting win for Steve Clarke's side as they look to find some momentum heading into their game against Kazakhstan.

It's an all or nothing game for Palmer and his Scottish team-mates, and they can't afford to make any slip ups on Tuesday evening, otherwise they won't have a chance to qualify for Euro 2020.
