Sheffield Wednesday defender Julian Borner has reportedly agreed a contract with German side Hannover 96, according to Bild.
Borner first signed for the Owls back in 2019, and has gone on to make 70 appearances in total for the club, although this year’s campaign ended in disappointing fashion.
Borner made 30 appearances for Darren Moore’s side this term, although his efforts weren’t enough to see them survive in the Championship, as they were relegated into League One after a number of below-par performances in the second tier of English football.
The defender has one year remaining on his contract with Sheffield Wednesday, and Bild haven’t claimed that a fee is involved to see him move to Hannover 96 this summer.
Sheffield Wednesday are set for a summer of change at Hillsborough, as they prepare to be playing their football in League One next season.
Osaze Urhoghide is reportedly edging closer to following Tom Lees out of the exit door with the Owls, with the young defender set to turn down a new contract with Darren Moore’s men this summer.
That’s likely to leave Darren Moore with just three recognised senior options in the centre of defence, and it’ll be interesting to see where he looks to add to his squad in the near future, as they target promotion back into the Championship at the first time of asking.

Borner showed glimpses of his quality whilst with the Owls, but changes are likely to occur at Hillsborough over the summer, as they look to prepare for life in the third tier of English football.
The wage bill needs cutting heading into the new season, and the club are clearly willing to move him on ahead of the new season.
But with Osaze Urhoghide also set to depart, the Hillsborough faithful will be eager to see defenders added to their squad, as it’s an area they’re desperately short on at this moment in time.
