Sheffield Wednesday defender Jack Hunt insists the Owls will become a lot more adventurous in the coming weeks once the players find their feet under Jos Luhukay.

The new boss has enjoyed a fine start to life at Hillsborough but it has definitely stemmed from a strong defensive unit.

Luhukay has overseen five games in total but the three Championship encounters have all ended goalless with the Owls adopting a 5-3-2 formation.

Given he has been up against Sheffield United, Cardiff and Middlesbrough, they are good results in isolation but it does highlight how goal scoring is a problem.

However, Hunt assured fans the ex-Gladbach boss wants to play stylish football but insists it will take time.

The manager really wants us to play expansive football and play out from the back, but it’s going to take time to implement his ideas,” he told the Sheffield Star.

He’s given players chances so we haven’t really had a settled XI yet. Everyone is building relationships - it’s taking a bit of time but we are all enjoying it, so far.”

The Verdict

There’s no doubting that Luhukay has done a very good job since taking over the Yorkshire club but they are struggling for goals.

However, you’d have to agree with Hunt and it’s not a major concern at the minute. The players are trying to understand a new formation and it makes sense to build from the back.

As well as that, he is having to contend with a major injury crisis and the return of key attacking players will make a big difference.
