Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sam Hutchinson has admitted that he wouldn't be surprised if Garry Monk decided to drop him for Saturday's clash with Fulham following his recent performances in training.

The Owls will be looking to build upon their recent display against Huddersfield Town with a positive results against the Cottagers at Hillsborough.

Hutchinson has made an encouraging start to the season for the Owls following a stop-start 2018/19 campaign.

After opening the year with two goal contributions against Reading, the 30 year-old has gone on to feature on a further six occasions for Wednesday in the Championship.

Currently operating in a defensive midfield role for the Owls, Hutchinson will be determined to produce another stand-out display this weekend in-front of the club's supporters.

Speaking to the press (as cited by The Star journalist Dom Howson on Twitter) ahead of the Fulham clash, the former Chelsea man said: "To be fair, if I was the manager after the two training sessions I have just had, I wouldn't play!

Is this the WORST Sheffield Wednesday XI from the last 10 years? Let us know what YOU think...

"I was terrible.

"The worst ever."

Whilst Tom Lees is unlikely to feature on Saturday, Monk has no fresh injury concerns for the game against the Cottagers.

By securing victory at Hillsborough, the Owls could move up to third in the Championship depending on results elsewhere.

The Verdict

Having made an incredibly honest admission about his displays in training, Hutchinson will be keen to deliver the goods when it matters most for the Owls.

After helping his side pick up all three points last weekend, the midfielder knows that he will have to be on top-form if Wednesday are to achieve a positive result against Fulham.

With the Cottagers having the likes of Tom Cairney, Anthony Knockaert and Ivan Cavaleiro at their disposal, Hutchinson will be tasked with breaking up attacks from the visitors.
