Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday are hopeful of bring Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard to the club on an emergency loan deal, according to the Daily Star.
The 22-year-old is highly-rated, and has had a number of loan spells in the Championship since he signed a professional contract with the Red Devils in 2012, including a 15 game spell at Derby County last season.
His most notable loan spell was with Birmingham City at the start of the 2013/14 season, were he found the net six times in 13 appearances with the Blues, before joining Brighton and Hove Albion later on that season.
And it appears that Hillsborough could be his next destination as he steps up his bid to play regular first team football, after Owls scout Glenn Roeder was spotted at Manchester United Under-21’s encounter against Everton last week – a game in which Lingard played and scored.
Despite impressing in the Championship, Lingard has been unable to establish himself at Old Trafford or find a loan move to the Premier League, but the talented youngster will hope that, should a move to Hillsborough materialise, he will finally be able to do just that.
The Owls, under the stewardship of Carlos Carvalhal, currently sit 11th in the Championship after back-to-back league wins – the latest of which came at Brentford yesterday.
