Sky Bet Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday have emerged as the leading candidates to take Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard on loan, according to Shoot.
The forward has been told that he is not wanted as part of the United first-team squad at present and a loan move looks ideal for all parties.
Lingard went out on loan to Derby County last season and netted two goals in 14 appearances for the East Midlands-based club, and impressed during his time at the Rams.
He has also been on temporary stints with Leicester City, Birmingham City and Brighton and Hove Albion, making him a shrewd piece of transfer business should Wednesday manage to secure an emergency loan.
The 22-year-old has made just one appearance for the Red Devils and it remains to be seen whether his long-term future lies at Old Trafford or not.
The Owls secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday and the win boosts them to within three points of a top six berth.
The arrival of a forward in the ilk of Lingard can only be a huge positive for the club’s progression this season, and will surely make Carvahal and his side be aiming to finish in a paly-off spot come the end of the season.
