Sheffield Wednesday remain keen on securing a deal for 25-year-old centre-half Frederico Venancio.

The defender proved a real hit for the club last season as the Owls endured a tough campaign in the main.

However, they did finish it strongly to carry some renewed hope into the off-season and fans of the club will be looking for that to be maintained with a deal being secured for the defender.

Indeed, the Sheffield Star has revealed that the player is still a firm target for the Owls and that dialogue has been ongoing in recent weeks between them and Vitoria de Setubal.

The same outlet also suggested earlier this summer that a £800,000 fee could be what it takes to make the loan deal permanent for the defender, but with talks still going on it remains to be seen if that ends up being the case.

The Verdict

Venancio is a player many Owls fans want to see sign but they will be getting a little restless that it hasn't been completed yet.

Even so, they appear to remain in the driving seat as things stand and so that will at least provide some cause for optimism that this will be completed.
