Sheffield Wednesday have joined other Championship clubs including the likes of Bristol City, Fulham and MK Dons in the race to sign Liverpool contract rebel Jerome Sinclair, according to The Telegraph.

Sinclair scored his first senior goal on his first start for The Reds in the 2-2 draw with Exeter City in the FA Cup third round at the start of the month, but has featured just five times in all competitions so far for the club.

The striker has turned down a new deal at the Premier League club, and is thought to be keen to move on to secure regular first-team football this week rather than waiting for his current contract to expire in the summer.

Reports suggest that fellow Premier League side Watford have been the frontrunners for Sinclair's signing, but that they could be put off by Liverpool's £3 million asking price.

As a result, a host of Championship clubs are looking to secure a deal ahead of the Hornets, with Wednesday the latest side to register an interest in the forward's signature.

With such strong interest, Sinclair's future is a situation which could develop over the next few days before the close of the transfer window.
