Gary Hooper to Sheffield Wednesday?

The Owls, who have been involved in a recent takeover, are looking to invest heavily this summer and prepare a genuine promotion challenge.

Reports so far have linked the club with the likes of Jordan Rhodes in recent weeks. However Gary Hooper has emerged as a new target for the club, with many bookmakers suggesting Wednesday are clear favourites to sign the 27-year-old.

Hooper is a proven goalscorer with an average of one goal just over every two games, spanning over his time at Scunthorpe, Celtic and Norwich.

Following their promotion to the Premier League, after beating Middlesbrough at Wembley, Norwich have the financial backing to invest in the squad as they prepare for the new season in the top flight of English football.

Despite Norwich seemingly willing to allow the striker to depart the club, Wednesday face stiff competition with a whole host of Championship clubs rumoured to be keen on the striker.

The Sheffield club finished 13th last term but lacked some fire power in front of goal, something Hooper could provide. The signing of Hooper could be the catalyst for more signings at Hillsborough during a summer of optimism following the takeover.
