Sheffield Wednesday have identified two positions that they would like to strengthen before the 11pm deadline on Tuesday, according to The Star.

It’s been a very quiet January transfer window so far for Wednesday, as the only business they’ve completed is the loan signing of defender Aden Flint from Stoke City.

Wednesday boss Darren Moore has been clear all month that the club will always look to improve the squad where possible.

Now, according to this report, a priority position Moore wants to improve in is his attack, adding a player that offers something different to the current attackers at the club.

Therefore, it is likely that Wednesday will look to bring in a young, versatile attacker that has pace. While the other position that Wednesday may look to strengthen between now and Tuesday’s deadline is at right wing-back.

In their current set-up, Liam Palmer has been playing as a centre-back, meaning Moore has only Jack Hunt available who can play as a right wing-back.

However, the addition of Flint may mean Palmer can now go back to his regular role as a full-back but considering the Scottish defender has been impressing there, Moore may now want to do that.

It is unclear at this moment if Wednesday will add in these areas of the squad, but with Moore stating he would like to add “one or two” in before the transfer window closes, according to The Star there is hope that he can bring in some new faces.

The Verdict

Despite their very impressive season so far, Moore will be keen to add to his squad while they are on the rise and keep the current players on their toes.

Moore will know these next four months of the season are going to be tough, and he will want a strong squad in front of him that can take it on.

Therefore, if there are one or two positions that they ideally need bodies in, the Wednesday boss will hope they can get them in and improve the current squad.
