Sheffield Wednesday have held talks with midfielder Dennis Adeniran over the possibility of him making the move to Hillsborough this summer, according to Yorkshire Live.

The Owls have been heavily linked with a potential move for Adeniran this summer with the midfielder a free agent following his exit from Everton. It has already been reported that Darren Moore is keen to add the 22-year-old to his squad ahead of next term and that the Owls are in pole position to sign him.

However, there is also reported interest from Sunderland and Hull City are also thought to have made a late move to tempt Adeniran into making the move to the KCOM Stadium this summer.

The latest update from Yorkshire Live reveals that both Luton Town and Blackpool are also interested in making a move for Adeniran during the transfer window.

The report adds though that Sheffield Wednesday have now held talks with the midfielder and that they remain confident that they will beat off the competition for his signature.

The Verdict

This is an encouraging update for the Owls and it suggests that there is still a strong chance that they will manage to secure Adeniran’s signature before the transfer window closes. That would be a major positive for Moore as he aims to add to his squad in very challenging circumstances with him being limited to who he can and can not make a move for.

Adeniran is a player that seems to have the potential to make a real impact for someone next term and appears to be ready to shine at League One level. The 22-year-old is also a potential asset that the Owls could develop over the coming years and potentially even aim to sell on for a profit. These are exactly the types of signings they have to make over the next few years.

It does seem from this report that Sheffield Wednesday remain in the driving seat to secure Adeniran’s signature and they will be hoping that they can wrap up a deal as soon as possible for him. With Luton and Blackpool now in the race, it will be even more vital that they move swiftly.
