Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly holding talks with Osaze Urhoghide over a potential new deal with the club according to The Star

The defender is out-of-contract at the end of the season, and the Owls have seemingly been impressed with what they have seen of the 19-year-old.

Urhoghide has made four appearances in all competitions for Garry Monk's side and will be hoping he can finish this year's campaign strongly when the season gets back underway.

The full-back made his senior debut for Sheffield Wednesday back in January, in a 2-0 win over promotion-chasing Leeds United at Elland Road.

He has gone from strength to strength, and will be keen to help his side move back up the Championship table heading into the final nine games of the season.

The Owls had previously occupied a spot in the play-off places, but a dismal run of form since the turn of the New Year has seen them fall to 15th in the second tier standings, which will be frustrating for the club's supporters.

The report from The Star claims that Sheffield Wednesday are keen to tie Urhoghide down to a new deal beyond 2021, which is certainly going to go down well with the Hillsborough faithful.

The Verdict:

This is definitely the right decision.

I had my doubts as to whether Urhoghide was ready to come into the first-team picture when he did, but he's put in a number of strong performances.

With him being out-of-contract at the end of this season, it's likely that a number of teams would have been interested in landing his signature.

He's a player with a bright future ahead of him, and is the sort of player that Garry Monk should be building his team around in future seasons.
