Fernando Forestieri has given his deal of approval to Sheffield Wednesday's summer move for Jack Hunt after taking to social media.

The Owls completed a free transfer to bring the 30-year-old back to Hillsborough after three years away with Bristol City after moving to the Robins back in 2018.

Hunt has made over 100 appearances for the South Yorkshire side and will now be hoping to add to that tally as he seeks to help the club to promotion from League One in the upcoming campaign.

Speaking to Sheffield Wednesday's website, Hunt said: “I’m delighted to be back. There was interest elsewhere but once I heard of Wednesday’s interest and spoke to the gaffer the decision was easy for me.

“He’s told me how he wants the team to play, what he expects from me, and it suits me perfectly.

“I had a fantastic time here, Wednesday are a special club to me, and it’s about unfinished business too.

“We came so close to promotion twice and that will be the aim again, this time from League One.

“I’ve been there before, I know what it’s all about and what to expect. The last time I was there it ended in promotion and that is the ambition now.”

One man who knows Hunt well is Fernando Forestieri.

The talented forward spent three years playing with the defender during his five-year spell at Hillsborough where he very much established himself as a fans' favourite before moving on to Italian side Udinese last summer.

The verdict

Sheffield Wednesday supporters are right to be pleased with with signing.

Jack Hunt is a player who will be universally popular at Hillsborough with fans knowing exactly what they're going to be getting from the 30-year-old.

Darren Moore will need reliable players if his side are to challenge for promotion this season and Hunt certainly falls into that category.

If the Owls can add to this signing with more players and characters of a similar ilk then supporters will be quietly confident in their ability to secure an immediate return to the second tier.
