Sheffield Wednesday could lose keeper Keiren Westwood with Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield making a move for the player.

The Terriers have known for a while now that they will be playing in the Championship next season after a dismal year in the Premier League and it appears they have already identified some targets.

That's because Football Insider have reported that they have made an offer to the experienced Irish international who is out of contract in the summer.

Current number one Jonas Lossl has confirmed he wants to leave the club in the summer so finding a new number one will be a priority for boss Jan Siewert.

However, the Owls have offered Westwood a new deal themselves and they will hope to convince him to extend his stay at Hillsborough after enjoying a successful five years with the club up to now.

The 34-year-old had been frozen out earlier this season under former boss Jos Luhukay but he returned to the side following his sacking and had a strong end to the campaign under Steve Bruce.

The Verdict

Westwood is a top keeper at this level so you can understand why Huddersfield are interested. In fact, it wouldn't be a surprise if he has more offers to choose from.

Given that, Bruce will be desperate for him to stay and his influence on the team has been clear to see in the past few months.

It's a big decision for Westwood to make and it will be interesting to see where he is playing his football next season.
