The 23-year-old midfielder was a target for Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town but he subsequently turned down a move to the Tractorboys.

Knockaert was a key part of the Foxes’ Championship title-winning side last season, however has made just three starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.

The Frenchman joined the Foxes in 2012 from Guingamp and has gone on to amass 92 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals.

Speaking about the winger, Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray told the Star:

“I have always liked the boy. Anthony scored a great goal against us last season at their place.

“He’s proven he can get goals in the Championship. We are always interested in good players.”

The Owls currently sit in 11th place in the Sky Bet Championship table, having accumulated 43 points from 33 league games thus far.

The addition of Knockaert would provide an added element of Championship know-how and experience that should help Stuart Gray’s side finish the season strongly.
