Sheffield Wednesday are gearing up for a busy summer at Hillsborough as Steve Bruce aims to put his own stamp on a squad, that he hopes can challenge for promotion next term.

Bruce has instigated a huge turnaround at the club since replacing Jos Luhukay in February, as the Owls went from relegation candidates to almost mounting a late play-off challenge in the latter stages of the season.

It has now emerged that Bruce is aiming to start his summer transfer business by recruiting Brentford wing-back Moses Odubajo, with the Owls in advanced talks to sign him, according to Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has been a regular for Thomas Frank's side after recovering from an injury earlier in the season, but he is now set to leave Griffin Park when his contract expires next month.

Bruce previously worked with the former England U20 international when they both helped Hull City achieve promotion from the Championship in 2016.

Odubajo made 30 league appearances in his second spell at the club this season as he helped Brentford towards an 11th-placed finish. He featured in a defensive role early on in the campaign, before playing further up the pitch more regularly in the second half of the season.

The Verdict

Obudajo would be a great signing for Wednesday as Bruce aims to freshen the side up ahead of next season.

He has a great attitude and a tireless work rate, which means he will fit in well with the ethos Bruce has aimed to implement so far.

However, his greatest asset is his versatility as he can play in attacking or defensive roles on either side of the pitch. I think Brentford will come to regret not extending his services beyond this season.
