Sheffield Wednesday defender Jack Hunt has called on fans to lay off manager Carlos Carvalhal as the pressure continues to mount on the Portuguese coach.

In a report the Sun, print edition, Saturday 21st October, the former Crystal Palace and Huddersfield defender says it is the players who are to blame for results and they should take responsibility.

Hunt has said that despite Carvalhal being the 'leader of the camp', it's the players who ultimately need to take the flack and turn things around, with Hunt saying 'blame us, not the gaffer'.

However, the right back insists everyone at the club is pulling together to turn things around, starting with a crucial away trip to Derby County this afternoon in what could well be a make or break game for manager Carvalhal.

The Portuguese gaffer was lauded in his first two seasons in charge, taking the Owls to the playoff final in his first campaign while leading them again to the playoffs last term, where they fell to Huddersfield over two legs on penalties.

A poor season this time out though has been compounded by defeats to local rivals Sheffield United and bottom club Bolton Wanderers.

The Verdict

Hunt has a point and it's an admirable stance to take, but ultimately is down to Carvalhal to sort things out.

There's something fundamentally wrong at Hillsborough at the minute, and a loss against the Rams today could well spell the end for Carvalhal.

Wednesday fans, what do you think? Is it time for him to go? Should you back him? Let us know!
