Sheffield Wednesday are set to opt against signing young Manchester City forward Keke Simmonds this summer transfer window, according to a report from Yorkshire Live.

The Owls are planning ahead for another Championship campaign but it is set to be a tough one with a 12-point deduction currently needing to be contended with.

That said, Garry Monk will be looking to add to his squad to help them along, with the likes of Chey Dunkley joining the Owls from Wigan over the weekend.

Simmonds, though, will not be arriving from Manchester City by the sounds of things with the Owls apparently deciding against bringing in the young attacker as they look to bolster their options in the final third.

The Verdict

The Owls have shown a willingness to sign young players this summer with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru already joining from Manchester City.

Simmonds, though, is not likely to be joining him in the Steel City.

The report reveals that the Owls did put in an enquiry earlier this summer over the player but it looks as though they're not going to take things further.

New forward additions are still needed at the club, though, so let's see who Garry Monk can manage to bring in in the coming weeks.
