Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a blow ahead of their clash tomorrow evening against Middlesbrough.

Jos Luhukay’s men sit two places and three points below their guests to Hillsborough this evening, and they will be without Fernando Forestieri for the fixture.

The 28-year-old will miss Friday evening’s clash and the “next few weeks” after Luhukay confirmed the injury in his pre-match press conference.

With one player out, another is on his way back, meanwhile, with Sam Winnall progressing well in his comeback to the first-team after injury.

Luhukay confirmed the striker will again turn out for the U23s this Saturday.

Speaking about the two players ahead of tonights clash Luhukay said: “Fernando Forestieri has injured his hamstring and will not be available for a few weeks now.

“Sam Winnall played 45 minutes for the Under-23s last week, and we hope for him to play again for the 23s on Saturday.”

The Verdict

With the good news of Sam Winnall comes the devastating news that Fernando Forestieri will be sidelined for a few weeks with a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old has been in good form since his return to the starting XI back in August after being dropped.

Having responded well, it is a blow for the team and for the striker himself who could potentially miss out on the next five fixtures in Sheffield Wednesday’s season.

In other news, with Forestieri being out, it is a good time for Winnall to be stepping up his recovery from injury.

One door closes, and another one opens, and the striker could be fast-tracked to a first-team return sooner rather than later.
