Sheffield Wednesday are set to announce the signing of Newcastle pair, Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar on a loan deal according to Keith Downie.

This potential deal has come out of the blue, but it's sure to delight the Owls supporters as they look to strengthen their depth for the rest of the season.

The Sky Sports journalist confirmed the move on Twitter, and it won't come as a surprise to see the pair looking for a loan move on deadline day.

Both Aarons and Lazaar have struggled for game time in recent seasons, and they would certainly benefit from a temporary move away from St James' Park.

Aarons has been out on loan at Czech side, Slovan Liberic this season, where he has made eight starts in total, but it looks as though Newcastle are keen to get him regular playing time in English football.

Whereas Lazaar is still with Newcastle this season but is yet to make a single appearance for the Magpies in a disappointing campaign for the defender.

This double signing will be pleasing to see for Sheffield Wednesday supporters, and they will hope they can play a part in firing Steve Bruce's side back up the table after a poor start to the season.

The Verdict:

This would be a fantastic double signing for the Owls.

Both Aarons and Lazaar have a point to prove this season and they could do just that with Sheffield Wednesday this season.

But I am surprised to see them arrive, as Sheffield Wednesday surely could have benefited from trimming the wage bill at Hillsborough before making any signings.
