Sheffield Wednesday are set to do business once again with Barnsley, with a £1 million submission for their captain Conor Hourihane, according to BBC Radio Sheffield Sports Journalist and commentator, Jonathan Buchanan.
The Owls are looking to strengthen their midfield during this January’s transfer window to push for a consecutive top six place in the Championship.
The 25-year-old has been an instrumental figure in Barnsley’s surprise run into the top eight of the Championship, scoring five goals, including a spectacular winner at Nottingham Forest last week.
The Tykes captain is out of contract at the end of the season and will be looking to tie up the midfielder for a knocked down sum.
Hourihane has attracted strong interest from other Championship parties including Aston Villa, while Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are also thought to be keeping the midfielder on their radar.
If the midfielder decides to leave Oakwell, he will join fellow team mate Sam Winnall at Hillsborough, who is expected to sign for the Owls later on today.
