Speaking to Sheffield Wednesday’s official media, Carlos Carvalhal has insisted his side are not favourites against Barnsley, despite sitting higher in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Wednesday travel to Oakwell this weekend to face Barnsley, with Carvalhal claiming there are no favourites in Derby games.

Carvalhal revealed what he is expecting from Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, he said: “We will be ready for the derby for sure. You never have favourites in a derby. It will be an interesting game.”

Wednesday enter Saturday’s clash sitting sixth in the Championship table, but their place in the Play-Offs is far from secure, with Fulham just a point behind Carvalhal’s side.

Prior to the international break, Carvalhal’s side were struggling for form, having recorded just one victory in six league fixtures and had suffered back-to-back defeats against Aston Villa and Reading.

Carvalhal has received a boost ahead of the visit to Oakwell, with Gary Hooper, Fernando Forestieri and Sam Hutchinson a number of first-team players to return to training.
