Speaking to Sheffield Wednesday’s official Twitter account, Carlos Carvalhal has confirmed he has “good expectations” on the fitness of Fernando Forestieri, ahead of Saturday’s massive clash with Newcastle United.

Rafa Benitez's Newcastle visit Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon, and Carvalhal is expecting to welcome back Forestieri, who has missed Wednesday's last four fixtures.

Wednesday moved back into the Sky Bet Championship’s Play-Off zone last night, after picking up three-points with a 2-0 victory over Rotherham United.

Carvalhal had both Gary Hooper and Ross Wallace available for selection following their respective injuries, and the 51-year old utilised both players in his starting 11.

Vincent Sasso will return from suspension for Saturday’s visit of Newcastle, and Carvalhal also spoke positively about Forestieri’s chance of returning from injury, he said:

“We recovered Wallace, Hooper, Sasso is back from suspension and we have good expectations for Forestieri for Saturday.”

Wednesday moved back ahead of Fulham in the Championship’s Play-Off race last night, and now hold a two-point lead over Slavisa Jokanovic’s side with just six fixtures of the season remaining.
