Garry Monk has heaped praise on Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher, describing him as ‘fantastic’.
The striker has been integral to the Owls’ this term after scoring 10 goals in 20 appearances already this season.
Fletcher is a popular figure among supporters, but his days in South Yorkshire could be numbered with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Negotiations with players are on hold at Hillsborough but speaking of Fletcher’s future, Garry Monk said that he wants him to stay.
Asked if he’d like Steven Fletcher to stay, Monk told the Sheffield Star: “Of course. That goes without saying.
“He has been fantastic.

“I know he had a good start to the season but since I have come in I have enjoyed working with him.
“He is doing exactly what is needed and scoring goals is the bonus that everyone wants on top for himself, the fans and everyone else.
“He is having a very good season and we just want him to maintain that.”
There’s no doubting Steven Fletcher’s impact this season.
The striker has been unplayable at times for Garry Monk’s side, leading him to double figures in his goalscoring tally.
Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping to help the frontman maintain his form while also looking to strike a deal to keep the former Scotland international at the club long-term.
