Sheffield Wednesday's League One campaign got off to a decent enough start at the weekend, with the Owls drawing with Portsmouth to claim a point.

It was the Owls who led in the fixture at first, only to end up having to settle for a stalemate.

However, boss Darren Moore will want the club to continue pushing on in the division this campaign and that will mean adding more players to his squad this window.

Even with the side having already made a few additions this summer window, it looks like he might be wanting even more at Hillsborough. Wednesday signed a total of six players before this weekend's fixture but even with half a first-team of new players, it seems the transfer business isn't done yet.

That's because Yorkshire Live is reporting that Moore will have talks with chairman Dejphon Chansiri over some more potential signings. If the chairman says that Moore can make some more additions, then you would expect the manager to oblige and try and sign a few more players this offseason.

The signings the club have made so far though have been solid. Wednesday have added one of the top goalscorers last season in Michael Smith to their ranks, who fired in the goals for Rotherham during their promotion season.

They've also signed a player with plenty of Championship experience - 47 second tier outings to be precise - to the squad in Tyreeq Bakinson. The manager though wants more and mainly upfront too it seems, with Wednesday looking to try and seal a promotion.

Speaking about transfer talks with Chansiri then to Yorkshire Live, he said: "There is nothing there at the moment. We will wait and see.

"I will have a catch up with the chairman in the early part of the week. It is great to see him. I am pleased that he is over."

With the transfer talks set to continue then, there could be more signings to come for Wednesday this window.

The Verdict

Sheffield Wednesday's first-team side is strong right now and you'd have to consider them as one of the favourites for a League One promotion.

Even with the squad that they have though, it seems Moore might want a few more signings before the window is shut. They've already signed a few players who can do very well at this level - including Smith, who is pretty much guaranteed goals if he gets the gametime - and if they add a few more, then they could even be title contenders.

However, with boss Darren Moore having spent a fair bit of money already, there might not be much left in the budget for some more signings. The chairman will have to let Moore know how much more business can be done - but the manager will likely be hoping that the Owls can add one or two more signings.

If the boss can, then it could take Wednesday to a promotion this season.
