Sheffield Wednesday defender Ben Heneghan has posted an update on his recovery three months on from his knee surgery.

The Owls centre-back suffered a season-ending knee injury back in October and had to wait for the ligament issue to settle down before having the necessary surgery more than a month later.

Three months on from that operation, Heneghan has taken to Twitter to provide supporters with an update on his rehabilitation - posting a video of him on an anti-gravity treadmill.

The 29-year-old moved to the League One leaders from AFC Wimbledon in the summer and had been a mainstay in the starting XI when fit before suffering the ACL injury against Lincoln City.

Darren Moore has had to work with an ever-changing back three due to fitness and availability issues this term but the Owls still have the best defensive record in the division - having conceded 22 times in 32 games.

It remains to be seen whether Heneghan will be ready for the start of next season but it seems likely his next contribution will be as a Championship player.

The Verdict

Heneghan's update shows that he's making progress on his recovery from that nasty knee injury he suffered back in October.

He's back running on the anti-gravity treadmill but it does seem like he's still got a fair way to go.

After securing his move to Wednesday on the back of some impressive seasons for the Dons, it must have been a gutting blow to go down so early in the 2022/23 campaign.

His side have managed well without him, however, and are on course to return to the Championship this term.
