Woods, a player who was highly regarded as one of the best young talents in the Football League by FourFourTwo's print magazine, attracted a bid from Premier League side West Ham United during the last January transfer window.

The Premier League club saw their efforts to capture the midfielders potential turned down, yet interest from a top-flight side proves the potential that Woods is showing as he looks to further develop his talents.

Despite his young age of 21, the midfielder has already made over 100 professional appearances and has impressed in the third-tier throughout the early stages of this season.

The impact made by Wood at Shrewsbury has been huge, making interest from Sky Bet Championship clubs unsurprising.

Evidently, the young midfielder was central to Shrewsbury's promotion to League One last season as he showed the know-how needed to excel as a play-maker in a promotion winning side.

With his accurate passing and ability to find a pass out of nowhere, the youngster became the star of the show whilst other clubs kept an eye on his progress.

A particularly eye-catching 'Man of the Match' performance against Chelsea in the League Cup has also given the midfielder accolade and has subsequently turned him into an in-demand player.

Being able to perform against the quality of the English champions is something that the player can be proud of, particularly when only having the experience of the lower leagues.

The League One side remain firm in their attempts to keep the youngster, but it is clear that Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston all remain interested in gaining his service by testing the resolve of Shrewsbury Town.

It is hard to tell whether the League One outfit will be able to keep the youngster, but what remains clear is that significant interest from teams in higher divisions will make it hard for them to prevent the players head turning towards bigger ventures.
