It is believed that Sky Bet Championship play-off finalists Sheffield Wednesday are among the clubs chasing 28-year-old Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick – HITC Reports.
A string of clubs are believed to be interested in acquiring the services of McGoldrick, with Wednesday and Dutch side FC Twente the ones named, however others are keen on the signature of the forward.
McGoldrick, who has been at Ipswich since 2013, has a total of 82 goals and 30 assists in a career spanning 319 appearances.
The 6′ strikers record of 32 goals and 16 assists in 104 games in a Ipswich shirt has seen him attract some big clubs – however Ipswich could be reluctant to sell their talisman as McGoldrick’s contract at Portman Road doesn’t expire until 2018.
If Owls manager Carlos Carvalhal can complete the signing of McGoldrick it could be massive for the club. If the experienced striker can work in co-operation or challenge last seasons dynamic duo of Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper, Wednesday would be in a good place to go one step further than last season.
So… Ipswich fans, what do you think of this news? How vital is McGoldrick to your side? Wednesday fans… How much of a coup would McGoldrick be? Could he challenge Forestieri and Hooper? Leave thoughts and opinions below!
