Glenn Loovens has sent his best to Carlos Carvalhal, after it was revealed that the former Sheffield Wednesday boss had successfully found new work, just days after his departure from Hillsborough, as reported by the Owls’ official Twitter account.

Carvalhal left Hillsborough five days ago, ending an association with the Owls that stretched over more than two years and brought back-to-back play-off appearances.

Despite his struggles and dismissal from Hillsborough, the Portuguese boss has landed himself a role in the Premier League, with confirmation today that Carvalhal had joined Swansea City on a short-term contract until the end of the current campaign.

During his time at Hillsborough, Carvalhal put his faith in Loovens to captain his side, with the experienced defender issuing a message to his former boss shortly after his appointment at Swansea.

The 34-year-old said:

Loovens was previewing Sheffield Wednesday’s next Sky Bet Championship fixture, which will be the club’s second following Carvalhal’s departure before Christmas.

Wednesday picked up a 3-0 victory in Boxing Day’s clash with Nottingham Forest, and will be looking for another positive result this weekend when they face Brentford at Griffin Park.

The Owls currently sit 14th in the Championship table, 11 points adrift of the top-six.

The Verdict

Loovens and Carvalhal shared a successful relationship at Hillsborough, with the duo leading the Owls through two extremely successful campaigns.

Obviously things have not gone well this season, but Wednesday’s supporters should not forget the success Carvalhal had at Hillsborough, as he has assembled an extremely capable squad, who could still deliver promotion under new management.
