Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has wasted no time in bolstering his squad in preparation for the 2017/18 Championship campaign, after enduring 6 gruelling years out of it.
The Blades have already confirmed the high-profile signings of Nathan Thomas, Ched Evans, Enda Stevens, and George Baldock, who are all very shrewd signings at Championship level, though there is definitely still work to be done.
United mastered League 1 last term, finishing as champions of the division on 100 points, and the likes of 30-goal man Billy Sharp can spearhead the Yorkshire club to success in the second tier next year.
There is one player though, that the former Northampton boss needs to splash the cash on to be a revelation in the Championship next year, and that man is Leeds United’s Kemar Roofe, valued at a price of £2.55million at Transfermarkt.com.
The versatile forward arrived at Elland Road in good stead, having been crowned the League Two Player of the Year in 2015/16 due to his remarkable performances for Oxford United, netting 26 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.
The 24-year old failed to appear regularly in Garry Monk’s team last year though, netting 3 times in a total of 42 appearances, with 14 of those coming off the bench.
Roofe, who can operate as either a winger or a striker, may not be involved in Thomas Christiansen plans for Leeds United next year, with the Dane possibly looking to bring his own players into Elland Road.
Up front with Billy Sharp, Roofe would be a formidable asset for the Blades, who will be hoping for a promotion push in the Championship next term, along with bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
He won’t come cheap, having arrived at Elland Road for a reported fee of £3million last summer, however United definitely have the funds and infrastructure to lure Kemar Roofe to Bramall Lane next season…
So…what do you think Blades fans? Should Chris Wilder go in for Kemar Roofe? How much would you bid for him? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
