Queens Park Rangers are insistent that Luke Freeman will stay at the club amid growing interest in his signature, reliable journalist Alan Nixon reports.

Freeman has been a target for a number of Championship sides but QPR are not willing to let their prize asset leave.

The Hoops managed to keep Freeman beyond the end of the permanent transfer window but a number of clubs are interested in signing him on a loan-to-buy arrangement before the loan window closes at the end of this month.

Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion were among the clubs taking an interest in the former Arsenal, Stevenage and Bristol City midfielder but they are set to face disappointment in this pursuit.

Steve McClaren wants to keep his best players, especially after three consecutive league losses to kick-start the season, and Freeman will not be allowed to leave.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals in 68 appearances for the West London club, including one in the cup this year.

The Verdict

Freeman would be a top signing for any of these clubs but it doesn't look likely now.

The creative midfielder is so important for QPR, who already have enough struggles without losing one of their best players.

Without him, QPR would definitely be staring at a relegation battle.
