Sheffield United welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Bramall Lane tomorrow evening, where Chris Wilder’s side are presented with another opportunity to showcase their promotion credentials against a direct rival.

Both the Blades and Wolves have started the 2017/18 campaign magnificently, and heading into this week’s fixtures, sit fourth and second respectively.

Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the Steel City derby left Wilder’s side just two points behind Wolves and the automatic promotion places, with the Blades knowing a victory tomorrow will see them leapfrog Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Here at FLW, we have decided to compare the squad Wilder has available to him at Bramall Lane, to the one that Wolves have put together ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

According to transfermarkt, Wolves’ squad is worth £65.97m, making it the third most expensive in the Championship, behind only Middlesbrough (£78.12m) and Aston Villa (£76.05m).

Nuno is able to call on two players valued at £9m in Ruben Neves and Helder Costa, whilst his forward line is also boosted by £7.2m-rated Diogo Jota and £6.75m-rated Ivan Cavalerio.

In comparison, Sheffield United’s squad is valued at just £9.65m, and does not contain a player valued at over £1m, with Billy Sharp and Richard Stearman both falling just under that mark, with a valuation of £900k.

Sunday’s Steel City derby hero, Leon Clarke, has a valuation of just £360k.
