Sheffield United are yet to have received any offers from Celtic for their defender George Baldock this summer, as per a recent report by The Athletic.

The Scottish Premiership side are known to be long term admirers of the 28-year-old wing back and are said to be lining up a move for the player this summer.

As stated further in the report, Baldock is said to be open to the idea of leaving Bramall Lane this summer after the Blades were relegated from the Premier League and is said to be keen on a move to Celtic if a bid is forthcoming for his services.

The right back has been ever present for the Steel City side since arriving back in 2017 from MK Dons and is amongst the most experienced and consistent performers in the current squad.

Now moving towards the back end of his career, Baldock currently has just one year remaining on his contract with the Blades, thus raising the possibility of him being sold for profit.

The Verdict

I do still feel that it is only a matter of time before the Hoops put in a bid for Baldock and it would be fair to assume that the Blades would accept if it meets their valuation.

The player himself is in a very strong position as he is now into the final year of his current contract, which means the club won't want to lose him for free next summer.

Cashing in on the full back now would guarantee a profit on top of what they originally paid for him back in 2017 and would arguably represent great business.

If the opportunity arises to sell him for a decent sized fee, I like to think that Slavisa Jokanovic will be smart enough to take the opportunity and bring in some funds to supplement his squad.
