Newly promoted Sheffield United will do battle with Brighton to sign Swansea City star Oliver McBurnie this summer.

The Swans are set to come under pressure in terms of keeping hold of some of their top stars with manager Graham Potter leaving, and according to Alan Nixon, both the Blades and Seagulls see McBurnie as the ideal signing heading into next season.

McBurnie fired in 24 goals across all competitions to really enhance his reputation as one of the brightest up and coming stars outside of the Premier League, and the Scot is clearly in high demand as Chris Wilder and managerless Brighton eye his signature.

The Scottish star has spent time previously with the likes of Barnsley on loan spells, but really came into his own this season despite the Swans struggling to make any sort of impact in terms of challenging for promotion.

McBurnie will be desperate to prove himself in the Premier League given the chance, and moves to both interested parties might well be of interest to the 22-year-old.

Sheffield United in particular are looking at the top players in the Championship as Chris Wilder plots his assault on the Premier League following an unexpected promotion last term, and Wilder might well see McBurnie as the ideal foil to assist the likes of Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick.

The Verdict

What a signing this would be for Sheffield United, with McBurnie fitting the profile the Blades are looking for.

Goals, youth, and a good attitude to the game are all things Chris Wilder will be keen on adding this summer, and the Swansea star fits the bill perfectly.
