Sheffield United face Middlesbrough this evening in a vital game for the play-off race this season in the Championship.

It's currently Boro who are bigger favourites to make the play-offs this season compared to the Blades with the men from Bramall Lane suffering a bit of a blip in recent games.

Even so, a win for Chris Wilder's men tonight could ignite a late resurgent charge into the top six for the Red and White Wizards and so that is what they'll be looking to do.

Largely, the Steel City side has a healthy squad to choose from in terms of player selection for this clash but there are a few players that are set to be away from the squad tonight.

Let's take a look at those names now...

Richard Stearman has a hamstring injury and could miss this one after also not playing against Barnsley.

He's proven a solid defender for the Blades this year and is naturally a big miss. Jake Wright could potentially feature again - as he did in the 3-2 loss to the Tykes on Saturday.

Jamal Blackman serves the last game of his suspension tonight and will have to watch on from the sidelines.

Simon Moore will deputise as per though you feel that the on loan Chelsea star will come back into the side straight after tonight.

Kieron Freeman remains out of contention to play this evening.

He's making progress with his rehab from a dislocated knee earlier this year, though, and so shouldn't be too far away.

Wilder will hope they are still in the play-off picture come Freeman's return.

Paul Coutts will not feature again this season.

A nasty injury at the back end of 2017 has left him stricken since and though he is in the recovery stage we won't be seeing him anytime this campaign.

Certainly, he's been a miss for the Blades and the sooner he is back for them the better.
