Sheffield United look on course to beat Crystal Palace and others to the signing of Manchester United winger Amad Diallo as they're reportedly in talks over a loan deal for the 19-year-old.

The Blades were hammered 4-0 by West Bromwich Albion yesterday in a game that highlighted just how far they are off the pace in the Championship.

Slavisa Jokanovic will no doubt be keen to bolster his squad in the final weeks of the season and it seems they're closing in on a second loan signing from a Premier League club.

Ben Davies joined from Liverpool earlier this week and, according to Pete O'Rourke, they're now in talks with Man United over signing Diallo for the 2021/22 campaign.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier this month that Crystal Palace were among a number of top-flight clubs interested in the Ivory Coast international.

Diallo moved to Old Trafford in January in a £37 million deal from Atalanta and has made eight appearances for the senior side so far, scoring once and adding one assist.

The Verdict

It seems as though the Blades are closing in on the signing of Diallo, which would be a fantastic bit of business and not just because they'd be getting there ahead of top-flight clubs like Palace.

Last night's defeat highlighted how far off the pace Jokanovic's side are at the moment and they need some more quality if they want to compete for promotion.

Signing a rising star like Diallo could be the ideal move as the 19-year-old will likely be hungry to prove his quality to his parent club.

There's absolutely no doubt that he's an extremely bright talent and he's shown that in glimpses for the Red Devils since his arrival.

The Bramall Lane faithful will want to see that on a regular basis but if he can do that, you feel he'll become a popular figure just as Dean Henderson was.
