Sheffield United kept up their push for promotion this weekend with a routine 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

The Blades saw off the Reds with a solid enough display at Bramall Lane, with goals from Mark Duffy and Enda Stevens proving enough for Chris Wilder's men to see off 10-man Forest.

United have been superb throughout the season, and regardless of if they win promotion or not, their season has been one which will be looked back on by Blades fans as one which has had plenty of fine memories.

Manager Wilder used the summer and January to address issues in his squad which cost them last season, and one of the big signings in the winter window who has made a big difference to proceedings has been the capture of experienced striker Gary Madine.

And Madine has this weekend spoken of his desire to stay put at Bramall Lane if the club want him, insisting he feels 'at home' playing for the Blades.

That desire to stay really should prompt United manager Wilder to ensure his board stump up the funds to secure the signing of Madine, who was a controversial capture initially but has put in the work to get himself cemented as someone the Blades faithful love having in their squad.

Madine brings something to the table that not many strikers do these days, and he's very much in the mould of an old fashioned number nine.

He is however excellent on the deck, and has contributed to the cause with some crucial goals too which have indeed helped the Blades on their way to challenging for the top two.

United are never going to have millions upon millions to spend, and if they can snap up Madine on a permanent deal regardless of division, then they would have a fine player on their hands who can help them in the Premier League or the Championship.
