Sheffield United striker Diego De Girolamo has joined Sky Bet League Two side Northampton Town on loan until the end of the season, claims Northampton News.

The forward was a target for Sunderland and Juventus, however he has now joined the League Two outfit on loan.

The striker joined has been at the Blades his whole career, however has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at the club.

De Girolamo enjoyed two separate loan spells at Sky Bet League Two side York City this season, amassing four goals in eight appearances for the club.

The striker has made a number of appearances for the Italy national youth team from under-18 level up to under-20 level, and he could be set for a bright future in the senior squad.

Northampton Town currently sit in tenth position in League Two, having accrued 53 points from 37 league games this season.

The addition of the Sheffield United forward could help add an element potency and firepower to the club, to help aid a late play-off push.
