Clayton Donaldson’s chances at Sheffield United may have been limited this season by the performances of Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp, yet the Jamaican international has certainly performed when called upon.

Four goals in only five starts is a solid return for the summer signing from Birmingham City, who will hope his form will be enough to earn him the nod on a more regular basis in the coming weeks.

Donaldson struck twice in the Blades’ 2-2 draw at Villa Park before Christmas, and played 89 minutes in yesterday’s much-needed win over struggling Sunderland.

A top-quality striker who has shown an eye for goal consistently throughout his career, the former Brentford and Crewe man could make all the difference as Chris Wilder’s side attempt to hold on to a playoff spot.

The player’s mind was taken away from football however this morning, with the 33-year-old calling for rapper Lil Pump’s song ‘Gucci Gang’ to be deleted from the records.

The rap has been popular in recent months, but the in-form striker has heard enough, and Tweeted his dismay at a bunch of kids performing their own rendition of the track.

The Verdict

Donaldson has been in excellent form over the Christmas period, and has endeared himself to Blades fans having struggled to make an impact earlier in the campaign.

Fast becoming a favourite at Bramall Lane, the player’s hatred of the song will cause much bemusement amongst supporters, with Donaldson just inviting a rendition featuring his name to be belted out from the stands in South Yorkshire in upcoming fixtures.

Those behind chants on the terraces will be sat behind their desks with a notebook frantically scribbling away at potential chants, and we are all hoping to see Donaldon’s face when his own ‘Gucci Gang’ hopefully takes to the stands in the coming weeks.

However with Donaldson hailing from Jamaica, the home of a whole host of top musical talents, perhaps we should take the striker's expert advice on board...
