Sheffield United left back Enda Stevens has said that his side are not in the business of earning plaudits, and will simply concentrate on picking points up as people continue to write them off in the Championship.

In an interview with the Sheffield Star, the summer signing at Bramall Lane said “people can have their opinions and say what they want", as clubs continue to appear to underestimate Chris Wilder's men who are back in the second tier for the first time in six years.

Stevens though is adamant that the Blades have what it takes, and cited the quality and technical ability of the likes of Mark Duffy and John Fleck as standouts in the Blades squad, while also highlighting that Paul Coutts and David Brooks are quality midfield players.

Many expected United to struggle upon their return to the Championship, but after romping to the League One title last season, they are doing the same in the second tier, sitting in third place ahead of their game with Reading at Bramall Lane this afternoon.

Stevens added: "It is what is in our dressing room and this building that counts. I don’t think anyone cares what others say. I certainly don’t because I know the quality we have at this training ground.”

The Verdict

The Blades are on form, and heading into today's game they were heavily fancied to break into the top two.

Stevens and his teammates will continue as they are and won't give two jots about being rated or praised by other teams or managers along the way.
