Sheffield United stance over potential to thwart Sunderland’s move for key transfer target outlined

Sheffield United are confident that they can beat Sunderland to the signing of Wolves defender Dion Sanderson this summer if they make a formal move for him, according to the Sheffield Star.

Sunderland are one of the teams that are in the race to sign Sanderson this summer who has been made available by Wolves. The Black Cats are the first side to have come in with an offer for the defender but their bid of around £1 million has been rejected by the Premier League club.

It is thought that Wolves are going to be valuing Sanderson and £2 million, with Sunderland now thought to be prepared to come back in with a higher offer to tempt the Premier League side into selling him.

Sheffield United have been reported as another one of the sides that are interested in making a move for Sanderson this summer. Although the latest update from the Sheffield Star reveals that as of yet no official talks have taken place between the Blades and Wolves at this stage.

The report adds though that the Blades are confident that if Slavisa Jokanovic gives the go-ahead for them to pursue Sanderson this summer, then they will be able to beat Sunderland to his signature.

The verdict

You would have to think that Sheffield United are right to be confident that they should be able to beat a League One side to the signature of Sanderson this summer. However, it is vital that they make a decision over whether they want to move for him very quickly considering that Sunderland have already made an offer to Wolves for him.

Sanderson seems to be a player that could potentially be able to improve the Blades’ options at the heart of their defence and he is someone that should be able to be a strong performer in the Championship based off his form in the third tier last term.

This one seems to be in the hands of Jokanovic and if the Serbian wants to sign Sanderson then it seems that Sheffield United will be able to come in with the right offer to make it happen. Surley the prospect of competing for promotion from the Championship is going to be an appealing one for a player in the defender’s situation this summer.
