Sheffield United defender Jake Wright has said his side will be more than ready for the Sheffield derby this Sunday as he looks to lead the Blades to victory over their steel city rivals.

Speaking to the club's official website, Wright says the there is 'excitement' and a 'buzz' about the place at Bramall Lane, but that the interview was the first time he had really spoken about the game all week.

"We've started the season well despite the loss against Norwich, we've had some decent results and it's good that we've had a free week to make sure we're ready come Sunday.

"The manager and skipper ram home the importance of the rivalry all the time, they looked for their result after every game last season and obviously once the fixtures were out it was the one everyone looked for." said Wright.

The former Oxford defender was brought in Blades manager Chris Wilder has one of his trusted servants and was expected to be a squad player at the Lane. However, Wright has gone on to become a regular for United, and went over 30 games undefeated in Blades shirt before this season.

Wright will be hoping to get one over the Owls, adding: "My eldest lad plays for Dronfield and the manager is a Wednesdayite and a lot of the parents are too, so I've had a bit of stick, but I know from my United fans what it means."
