Chris Wilder is aiming to bolster Sheffield United's ranks ahead of their Premier League return with an attacking midfielder among their priorities, according to the Sheffield Star.

Wilder's side secured automatic promotion from the Championship alongside Norwich City, with their impressive defensive record being a major factor behind their success.

The Blades are now seeking a creative spark who can help them unlock Premier League defences next season as they prepare to end their 12-year absence from the top-flight.

With this in mind, it is understood United have now renewed their interest in Birmingham City attacker Jota, according to the Sheffield Star.

Football Insider previously reported that the South Yorkshire club were interested in securing Jota's services in January, and they may now have more reason to be hopeful of landing the playmaker following promotion.

Jota was an regular figure for the Blues last season, as Garry Monk's side avoided relegation following a nine-point deduction in the second half of the campaign.

The Spaniard was involved in 14 goals during his 40 league appearances for the St Andrews' outfit last season, having impressed since joining from Brentford in 2017.

The Verdict

Jota has been one of Birmingham's key performers in the Championship this season, so he would definitely be a solid signing for the Blades.

The Blues may also be keen to sell in order to get his salary off their books, while United will be able to afford him following their promotion.

He would be a welcome addition to Wilder's side, but I would like to see the Blades be more ambitious in the rest of their business as they need more players with Premier League pedigree.
